Fare Free Promotions

Marin Transit offers fare free days on local bus service to highlight special days when transit is aligned with related environmental and congestion reduction efforts or supports other civic goals. 

In June 2026, the Marin Transit Board of Directors approved a set of fare free days and periods (learn more here) as part of the FY2026/27 budget. 

The days and periods are shown below. On these days or periods, local bus service is free for all riders. 

• Youth Ride Free for Summer: June - August 2026
• Marin County Fair: July 1 - 5, 2026
• Clean Air Day: Wednesday October 7, 2026
• Election Day: Tuesday November 3, 2026
• Transit Equity Day: Thursday February 4, 2027
• Earth Day: Thursday April 22, 2027
