Marin Transit Local 31-Day Passes are now available on Clipper!

Marin Transit Local 31-Day passes are valid for unlimited local rides on both Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit in Marin County. In early 2026, the Marin Transit Local 31-Day passes will transition from a paper pass product to a pass used with Clipper. Paper 31-day passes will no longer be sold after March 31, 2026.

  • Where can I purchase a Marin Transit Local 31-Day Pass?

    Marin Local 31-day passes can be purchased in a variety of ways. 

    - Online through the Clipper website and/or app, by registering your Clipper card online and purchasing using a credit or debit card.

    - In person at the Customer Service Window at the San Rafael Transit Center. 

  • How do I use the Marin Transit Local 31-Day Pass with Clipper? 

    The Marin Local 31-Day pass is activated on the day it is first used and is valid for 31 days after activation. The pass is good for unlimited local rides on both Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit in Marin County for the duration of the 31-day period. Simply tap your card on the Clipper reader when boarding the bus!

  • What should I do with my Clipper card after the end of the  31-day pass period? 

    Do not dispose of your Clipper card! You can reload your Clipper card with cash value, passes or both!

  • What if I already have a Clipper card? 

    With Next Generation Clipper, cardholders can now add the Marin Transit Local 31-day pass to their Clipper card. Use the Clipper website and/or app by registering your Clipper card online and purchase the pass using a credit or debit card.

  • What if I still have unused paper passes after March 31, 2026? 

    Paper passes will still be valid for use on Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit in Marin County through early summer 2026. 

  • How can I get a discounted Marin Transit Local 31-Day Pass?

    Riders eligible for a discounted paper 31-day pass (youth, senior, disabled) must first get the appropriate Clipper card type that offers the discounted pass you wish to purchase. Learn more here

  • Why is this change being made? 

    Marin Transit is shifting paper 31-day passes to Clipper as part of a fare transition plan that was adopted by the Marin Transit Board of Directors in 2024. 

  • What if I do not want to use Clipper? 

    Riders that do not want to use Clipper will not have access to 31-day passes after March 31, 2026. 

  • What if my agency or organization purchased paper 31-day passes in bulk?  

    We encourage you to distribute all paper passes prior to March 31, 2026. Marin Transit will work with agencies or organizations that have purchased 31-day passes in bulk to find the most appropriate method to exchange the passes and/or discuss options for bulk purchases of 31-day passes with Clipper.
