Youth Pass

Marin Transit offers an annual pass that is distributed through participating Marin County schools. With a Youth Pass, registered Marin County students and youth ages 18 and under are able to ride on local routes in Marin (excluding any Golden Gate Transit regional or commute routes such as the 101/130/150/580 lines) without paying any additional fare.

How to get a Youth Pass

Youth Pass is moving to Clipper this Fall! The Youth Pass will transition to a free program for eligible students based on Clipper. Sticker flash passes will not be distributed by schools like in previous years. How it works:

• Apply for a Youth Clipper Card: Apply online at clippercard.com/discounts, by mail, or in-person at the San Rafael Transit Center customer service center.
• If eligible, sign up for the Youth Pass online, eligibility is based on income guidelines. Students will need a valid Youth Clipper card to sign up.
• Receive your pass: Once eligibility is confirmed by your school, Youth Pass will be added to your Youth Clipper card at no cost.
• Start getting discounts automatically! Tap your card (or phone) on the Clipper reader when you board!

If you have questions about adding the Youth Pass on your Clipper Youth pass, contact your school coordinator listed in the table below. Youth must have a photo ID and be age 18 or under.

If students are not eligible for a Marin Transit Youth Pass, students can still access discounts and fare-maximums through Youth Clipper on all participating Bay Area transit providers. To apply click on the button above labelled, "Step 1: Apply for Youth Clipper".
